What is a custom doormat maker?
A custom doormat maker is a Shopify app that lets customers design a personalized coir doormat with a family name, address, or quote. The Shopify standard is Print It My Way (free to install). Doormat AOV runs $32-58, and the product positions well as a housewarming or wedding gift.
Step-by-step setup
- Install Print It My Way (free). From the Shopify App Store.
- Pick doormat materials. Cocoa coir (classic outdoor), rubber-backed (heavier, won't slip), microfiber (indoor only), polyester poly-blend (synthetic year-round).
- Upload lifestyle mockup. Doormat on a porch or doorway. Lifestyle photo converts better than studio-flat.
- Configure 30x17 in print canvas. Standard doormat size. Match personalizer canvas exactly.
- Add prominent family-name field. 70%+ of orders use family-name personalization. Make this the first field.
- Pick fonts that read at distance. Heavy display (Bebas Neue, Anton), classic serif (Playfair), rustic hand-drawn. 4-5 fonts max.
- State weather durability on product page. Coir mats last 6-18 months outdoor depending on exposure. Set customer expectations.
