What is a custom socks maker?
A custom socks maker is a Shopify app that lets customers design all-over-print socks: pet face socks, wedding groomsmen socks, anniversary socks. The Shopify standard is Print It My Way (free to install). Sock POD AOV: $18-32 single, $45-115 multi-pack.
Step-by-step setup
- Install Print It My Way (free). From the Shopify App Store. AI background removal handles 'pet face socks' flow.
- Pick sock blanks. Sublimation crew socks, ankle socks, knee-high socks. 80/20 polyester / cotton blend typical.
- Upload sock template. Sublimation socks need a specific template showing front + back of foot + leg. Get exact template from your fulfillment partner.
- Configure photo upload + background removal. Pet face socks are POD's strongest sock niche. AI removes background; face tiles across the sock pattern.
- Pick pre-built templates. Build 10-15 template patterns (mustaches, pet faces, anniversary dates, custom monograms).
- Set multi-pack pricing. Single pair: $18-32. Pack of 3: $45-75. Pack of 5: $70-115. Bundle pricing improves AOV.
- Build for wedding groomsmen bulk. Matching groomsmen socks usually ship as 5-10 unit bulk orders, so set tier pricing at 5+ units.
Pet face socks dominate
Pet face socks, with the pet's face tiled across the whole sock, are POD's strongest custom sock niche. AI background removal handles the cutout. Offer the pet's name as an optional add-on and position the socks as gifts.
Wedding groomsmen socks
Matching groomsmen socks usually come in as 5-10 unit bulk orders, with the wedding date plus a couple monogram or 'I do crew' text as the standard pattern. Tier pricing at 5+ units.
Popular sock patterns
- Pet face (tiled or single)
- Anniversary / wedding date
- Couples monogram
- Photo collage (family photos)
- Mustaches / playful icons
- Sports team colors
Multi-pack pricing
Single pair: $18-32. Pack of 3: $45-75 (better value). Pack of 5: $70-115. Move customers to multi-pack: better AOV, similar shipping cost.
Sublimation only
Socks require sublimation for all-over print. Polyester base required. DTG and screen print don't work on sock fabric construction.

Yes. Print It My Way has native integrations with Printful, Printify, Gelato, and other major print-on-demand partners.
