Which product options apps support tiered pricing?
The 2026 tiered-pricing shortlist: Print It My Way (Cart Transform native, per-character tiers, quantity breaks), Hulk Product Options (variant-based tiered pricing), Bold Product Options SC (uses hidden-product pattern), and Globo Product Options. Print It My Way is the only one on this list with native Cart Transform for tiered pricing on Shopify Plus.
Step-by-step setup
- Install Print It My Way. Cart Transform pricing is on every tier.
- Add a text field with a character limit. 40 chars is typical for engraving.
- Configure the tier. First 10 chars free, next 20 at $0.50 each, next 10 at $1 each.
Types of tiered pricing
- Per-character tiers: First 10 free, $1 each after. Engraving.
- Quantity tiers: 1-10 units regular, 11-50 at 10% off, 51+ at 20% off. Wholesale.
- Option-count tiers: First custom side free, second side $5, third side $10. Multi-side apparel.
- Time-based tiers: Rush delivery $10, super-rush $25.
Why Cart Transform matters
Legacy options apps used OPTIONS_HIDDEN_PRODUCT to add per-character fees. A hidden product per pricing combo. Result: cart clutter, refund complications, POS confusion. Cart Transform (Shopify's 2023 API) computes the surcharge live and shows it as a clean line on the cart. Print It My Way was rebuilt on Cart Transform from day one.
