TL;DR
- Both are Shopify product-options apps with free plans, broad field catalogs, conditional logic, add-on pricing.
- Hulk: HulkApps ecosystem, 24+ field types including niche depth (math, signature, dimension), longer track record.
- Qikify (formerly Tepo): Qikify multi-app ecosystem, broad option types, established footprint.
- Decision on: ecosystem fit (HulkApps vs Qikify multi-app suite), niche field needs (Hulk's depth), editor preference.
- Neither shows a live preview. Personalized products need a personalizer. Verify current pricing on each listing.
Same category — options app with free plan
Hulk Product Options and Qikify (formerly Tepo) Custom Product Options are both Shopify product-options apps with free plans, broad option-type catalogs, conditional logic, and add-on pricing. They sit in the same category as Easify and Globo — the free-plan options-app set most commonly compared by Shopify stores. Hulk and Qikify differ in vendor ecosystem (HulkApps multi-app suite vs Qikify multi-app suite), app maturity, and specific field-type emphasis. Which fits your store?
- You're already in the HulkApps ecosystem (multiple Hulk apps installed, single support contact) → Hulk is the natural fit.
- You're already in the Qikify multi-app ecosystem → Qikify for single-vendor support.
- You need niche field types (math, signature, dimension, multi-step quoting) → Hulk's depth tends to cover more of these.
- You value long track record specifically → Hulk has the longer Shopify-app history.
- You want to evaluate against Easify and Globo too → see Globo vs Hulk vs Easify for the three-way comparison.
- Your products are personalized (text, monogram, photo) → neither shows a live preview; layer in a personalizer.
Ecosystem fit matters here
The clearest decision driver between Hulk and Qikify often isn't features (both cover the standard options-app set) but ecosystem fit. HulkApps offers a broad Shopify app catalog spanning options, upsells, popups, reviews, and more — running Hulk Product Options alongside other Hulk apps simplifies support contact, billing relationships, and integration consistency. Qikify offers its own multi-app suite with similar ecosystem benefits within its catalog. Stores that are not already in either ecosystem can pick on capability alone; stores already in one tend to default to that ecosystem's options app.
Personalized products too?
Hulk and Qikify are options apps; for personalized products with live preview (text, monogram, photo on a product), layer in a personalizer. PIMW Product Personalizer runs free, no per-item fees, native Cart Transform pricing.

Hulk or Qikify — which options app should I pick?
Depends on ecosystem fit and field-type needs. Both are strong free-plan options apps with broad field catalogs, conditional logic, and add-on pricing — capability ceiling is similar. The decision drivers are vendor ecosystem (HulkApps vs Qikify multi-app suite — stores already in either tend to default to that ecosystem's options app), niche field-type needs (Hulk has long-standing depth on math, signature, dimension — verify Qikify's coverage on its listing), and track record preference. For stores not in either ecosystem, evaluate on niche-field execution and editor preference via trial.
What was Qikify previously called?
Qikify Custom Product Options was previously branded as Tepo. The Tepo → Qikify rebrand reflects the broader Qikify multi-app suite consolidation. The app's core capabilities continued through the rebrand; existing Tepo users continued running it under the new branding. Community references to the app may use either name; verify current product naming on the Shopify App Store listing.
Do both Hulk and Qikify have free plans?
Yes — both apps offer free plans, which is part of why they're often considered together alongside Easify and Globo. The specific limits of each free plan (options per product, products covered, gated features) have changed for both apps over time, and the only reliable comparison is to check each app's current Shopify App Store listing at the time you're deciding. For stores prioritizing the free tier specifically, compare current limits side by side. Globo is most often cited as the most generous free plan; Hulk and Qikify are also solid free-tier options.
Which has more niche field types?
Hulk is more frequently cited for niche field-type depth, with 24+ field types including math, signature, dimension, date picker, file upload. Qikify's specific niche coverage should be verified on its Shopify App Store listing — feature sets evolve. For stores that genuinely need math fields for area pricing, signature pads for waivers, or dimension inputs for custom-cut products, Hulk's depth is recognized. For standard option/configuration needs (dropdowns, swatches, text inputs, file uploads), both apps cover the core 6-8 fields cleanly.
Can Hulk or Qikify show a live design preview?
No — neither is a personalizer. Both add fields so customers can configure or select options, but neither renders the customer's typed text, chosen font/color, or uploaded photo on a picture of the product in real time before checkout. If your products are personalized (names, monograms, custom text, photos), you need a personalizer like PIMW Product Personalizer alongside or instead of an options app. For pure option/configuration selection without a design preview, either Hulk or Qikify is enough.
How does Qikify compare to Easify and Globo?
Qikify sits alongside Easify and Globo (and Hulk) in the free-plan options-app set most commonly considered. Each has its emphasis: Easify for Built-for-Shopify polish and modern editor; Globo for multi-language and free-plan generosity; Hulk for niche-field depth and HulkApps ecosystem; Qikify for the Qikify multi-app suite ecosystem. All four cover the core options-app capabilities; choice typically comes down to ecosystem fit, specific differentiator priority (multi-language, niche fields, editor polish), or free-plan limits at your scale. Trial multiple on a representative product before deciding.
Is PIMW Product Personalizer free to install?
Yes. PIMW Product Personalizer is free to install from the Shopify App Store. The Free plan includes 1 personalizer template on up to 2 personalized products; paid plans (Basic $7.99, Pro $13.99, Unlimited $24.99 per month, each with a 3-day free trial) raise the template, step, and product assignment limits. Every plan includes unlimited custom orders with no per-order fees. There is no upfront fee and no credit card required to install.
How long does PIMW Product Personalizer take to set up?
Most stores set up their first personalized product in under 15 minutes. The Shopify App Store install takes about 60 seconds; adding text fields, photo upload, color swatches, and live preview to a product takes 5-10 minutes. Catalog-wide rollout (50+ products) uses bulk-apply templates and typically takes 30-60 minutes total.
Does PIMW Product Personalizer work with Shopify Basic, Shopify, Advanced, and Shopify Plus?
Yes. PIMW Product Personalizer works on every Shopify plan including Basic, Shopify, Advanced, Plus, and Shopify Starter. The core personalization fields, live preview, and order capture work on every tier.
Does PIMW Product Personalizer slow down my Shopify store?
No. PIMW Product Personalizer uses Shopify's storefront block architecture, which loads only on personalized product pages and doesn't add render-blocking scripts site-wide.
Does PIMW Product Personalizer work with Printful, Printify, Gelato, and other POD partners?
Yes. PIMW Product Personalizer writes the customer's personalization to standard Shopify line item properties, which Printful, Printify, Gelato, and other major print-on-demand apps read. The data flows through Shopify's standard order pipeline, so any partner that reads line-item properties (which all major POD apps do) receives it with the order.
Does PIMW Product Personalizer support Shopify Markets, multiple currencies, and multiple languages?
Yes. Field labels translate per language, upcharge prices can be set per currency, and the personalizer fully supports right-to-left languages including Arabic and Hebrew. The personalizer also handles Unicode for Cyrillic, CJK (Chinese/Japanese/Korean), Greek, and accented Latin characters with appropriate font fallback.
