Why a single global personalizer setup wins
The wrong approach: separate Shopify stores per country, each with its own personalizer setup. Maintaining 5 stores' personalization configs is a nightmare.
The right approach: one Shopify store with Markets enabled, one personalizer configured with translations and per-currency upcharge prices, one POD partner with global fulfillment. Customers in each country see their language, currency, and local fulfillment automatically.
Step-by-step setup
- Install Print It My Way. Markets support is built in. Install the app from the Shopify App Store.
- Enable Shopify Markets and configure your target countries. In Shopify admin, Settings > Markets. Add the countries you sell to. Configure currency and language per market.
- Translate field labels per language. In Print It My Way, open the personalizer for each product. For each field label, add translations for the languages you support ('Engraving text' → 'Texto del grabado' in Spanish).
- Set upcharge prices per currency. Upcharge fields can hold per-currency values (e.g. 'Premium font: +$5 USD, +€4.50 EUR, +£4 GBP'). Set the right value per market — don't just convert at runtime, since exchange rate fluctuation creates weird prices.
- Pick a POD partner with global reach. For personalized POD products, Gelato or Printful's distributed facilities ship locally per market. Configure your POD fulfillment so EU orders ship from EU production, etc.
- Handle character set support per language. Customers ordering in Greek, Russian, Arabic need fonts that cover those characters. Either restrict your font set to broadly-covered fonts (Noto family) or offer language-specific fonts per market.
- Test a real order from each market. Switch your storefront to each market (using the country switcher), place a test order with personalization, verify currency, language, and fulfillment all work end-to-end.
Translation tooling
Field labels translate via Print It My Way's per-language strings. The customer's typed-in personalization (their name, their message) is NOT translated — that's their content, you engrave it as typed.
Customer-facing strings to translate:
- Field labels ('Engraving text', 'Choose your font')
- Tooltip text and hints
- Error messages ('Field required', 'Profanity detected')
- Button labels ('Add to cart' is handled by Shopify, but 'Save design' may not be)
Per-currency upcharge pricing
Don't auto-convert. A $5 USD upcharge auto-converted to EUR might show as €4.73 today and €4.81 tomorrow. Customers see weird prices.
Set per-currency values that are clean numbers — $5, €5, £4. Reconfigure quarterly as exchange rates drift, but daily fluctuation doesn't leak through.
Shipping cost reality check
If your personalized POD product is fulfilled from the US and ships to Australia, shipping costs $25 and takes 3 weeks. That's not competitive with local Australian POD.
For each market, calculate the real shipping cost from your fulfillment partner. If it's prohibitive, consider Gelato's distributed network or a regional POD partner instead. Markets is only as good as the fulfillment behind it.

Does Print It My Way support RTL languages (Arabic, Hebrew)?
Yes. Field labels, error messages, and the customer interface flip to RTL for those languages automatically when Markets is configured for them.
Can I have market-specific fields (e.g. only show one field in EU)?
Yes. Conditional logic can include 'visible in markets X, Y, Z' as a rule. Useful for region-specific compliance fields (GDPR opt-in in EU).
What about taxes on upcharges?
Upcharges inherit the product's tax class per market. EU VAT is calculated correctly; US sales tax follows Shopify's tax setup. No manual config needed.
Can different markets have different POD partners?
Yes. Set EU orders to fulfill from Gelato EU, US orders from Printful US, etc. Print It My Way passes the print file to whichever partner Shopify routes to.
Will product reviews translate too?
Reviews come from your reviews app (Loox, Stamped, Judge.me) — separate from Print It My Way. Most have their own translation features.
Is Print It My Way free to install?
Yes. Print It My Way is free to install from the Shopify App Store. The Free plan covers most small stores; paid plans unlock higher order volume, advanced features like Cart Transform per-character pricing, premium fonts, and white-glove support. There is no upfront fee and no credit card required to install.
How long does Print It My Way take to set up?
Most stores set up their first personalized product in under 15 minutes. The Shopify App Store install takes about 60 seconds; adding text fields, photo upload, color swatches, and live preview to a product takes 5-10 minutes. Catalog-wide rollout (50+ products) uses bulk-apply templates and typically takes 30-60 minutes total.
Does Print It My Way work with Shopify Basic, Shopify, Advanced, and Shopify Plus?
Yes. Print It My Way works on every Shopify plan including Basic, Shopify, Advanced, Plus, and Shopify Starter. Some advanced features like Cart Transform (per-character pricing) and B2B company accounts require Shopify Plus, but the core personalization fields, live preview, and order capture work on every tier.
Does Print It My Way slow down my Shopify store?
No. Print It My Way uses Shopify's storefront block architecture, which loads only on personalized product pages and doesn't add render-blocking scripts site-wide. Lighthouse and Core Web Vitals scores on personalized product pages stay green when the app is configured with default settings.
Does Print It My Way work with Printful, Printify, Gelato, and other POD partners?
Yes. Print It My Way has native integrations with Printful, Printify, Gelato, and other major print-on-demand partners. The customer's personalization data flows through Shopify's standard order pipeline, so any partner that reads line-item properties (which all major POD apps do) receives the print files automatically.
Does Print It My Way support Shopify Markets, multiple currencies, and multiple languages?
Yes. Field labels translate per language, upcharge prices can be set per currency, and the personalizer fully supports right-to-left languages including Arabic and Hebrew. The personalizer also handles Unicode for Cyrillic, CJK (Chinese/Japanese/Korean), Greek, and accented Latin characters with appropriate font fallback.
