What this enables
- Apparel with real size + color matrix — 8 sizes × 20 colors = 160 variants (used to require splitting)
- Custom jewelry — 5 metals × 10 stones × 15 sizes = 750 variants
- Configurable furniture — 10 fabrics × 20 colors × 8 sizes = 1,600 variants
When 2,048 still isn't enough
Mass customization (customer designs 1-of-1) shouldn't use variants at all. Use line-item properties via personalizer app. Variants are for pre-defined SKUs.
Migration from old workarounds
If you split products to work around the 100 limit, you can now consolidate. Or keep the split for SEO reasons (dedicated URLs per style). Test both approaches.
