The quick comparison: 11 oz white mug

Here is what an 11 oz white ceramic mug cost to make and ship to a US customer, in USD, as checked in October 2026:

A few things stand out:

• Shipping is the biggest cost. At Printful and Printify, shipping one mug to the US costs more than the mug itself.
• Printful is cheaper inside Printify. Printful is one of Printify's print providers, and its 11 oz mug costs $5.02 there, compared with $6.75 directly from Printful. Shipping and branding options differ, though.
• Starting prices aren't always comparable. Gooten's $3.41 is its volume price, and CustomCat's $3.75 needs the paid Pro plan.

How we ranked them

We ranked the providers on four things:

1. Total cost of an 11 oz white mug delivered to a US customer, where prices are public.
2. Mug range: sizes, colors, accent, enamel, travel and color-changing mugs.
3. Production speed and where the mugs are made.
4. Merchant experience, using each app's Shopify App Store rating and number of reviews.

1. Printify: lowest cost and the most choice

Best for: sellers who want the lowest cost per mug and the most providers to choose from.

Printify doesn't print anything itself. It connects you with print providers, and several of them make the same white ceramic mug at different prices:

Prices in brackets are with Printify Premium.

• Shipping: US standard shipping is $7.29 for the first 11 oz mug and $3.09 for each extra one ($9.39 and $3.99 for 15 oz). Economy shipping is cheaper, from $5.79, but slower: 4 to 8 business days instead of 2 to 5.
• Mug range: white, black, accent (colored inside and handle), color-morphing, enamel camping and 20 oz jumbo mugs.
• Premium plan: $39 a month, or $24.99 a month billed yearly, lowers mug prices by about a quarter. On an 11 oz mug from Printify Choice it saves $1.28 per mug, so it pays for itself at about 20 mugs a month on the yearly plan.
• Personalization: Printify has storefront personalization built in, so customers can add their own text on some products.
• Watch out: check where the provider is. Some Printify providers are outside North America, and shipping a mug from the UK to the US costs $41.59. Its only color-changing (magic) mugs that ship from the US are the "Color Morphing" mugs, at $9.03; the other magic mugs come from Germany or Australia, with $14.49 to $28.59 US shipping.

2. Printful: best quality control and branding

Best for: sellers who want consistent quality, branded packaging and more premium mug styles.

Printful prints in its own facilities and has the biggest range of mugs of any provider we checked:

• Specs: Printful's white mug is ceramic, printed with sublimation, and dishwasher and microwave safe. Its black mug is also lead and BPA-free. The enamel mug and travel mug are hand-wash only.
• Shipping: US shipping for an 11 oz mug is $6.69 for the first and $3.50 for each extra. Printful says it takes 2 to 5 business days to make and fulfill an order, then 3 to 4 business days for flat-rate US shipping.
• Growth plan: free to start; the Growth plan ($24.99 a month) gives discounts on products.
• Watch out: it's more expensive than Printify for the same basic mug. Printful's white mug blank is sourced from China and printed in Printful's facilities.

3. CustomCat: cheapest with the Pro plan

Best for: stores selling enough mugs to justify a monthly plan.

CustomCat's prices change a lot depending on the plan. According to its product pages in October 2026:

• Plans: CustomCat Lite is free. Pro costs $30 a month or $300 a year, with a 60-day free trial.
• Watch out: we couldn't confirm current CustomCat shipping rates or production times on its site, so check them in the app before you set prices. Its Shopify app has fewer reviews (113) than Printful or Printify.

4. Gelato: best for selling worldwide

Best for: stores with customers in Europe, the UK, Australia and other markets, where local printing means faster delivery.

Gelato prints in partner facilities around the world, so a mug ordered in Germany can be printed in Europe instead of shipped from the US.

• Mug range: white 11 oz and 15 oz ceramic, color-inside, magic (color-changing), slim porcelain, enamel, latte and stainless travel mugs.
• Printable area: Gelato lists 200 x 96 mm for its 11 oz mugs and 213 x 103 mm for 15 oz.
• Prices: shown only in the Gelato dashboard, so we couldn't verify them. Gelato+ costs $29.99 a month, or $19.99 a month billed yearly, with a 14-day trial.
• Watch out: compare the delivered price for your main markets in the dashboard before you commit, since local production is the main reason to choose Gelato.

5. Teelaunch and Gooten: lowest starting prices, with trade-offs

Teelaunch lists an 11 oz white mug at $3.65, among the lowest base prices we found, with no paid plan. It's slower than most, at 3 to 6 business days to produce a mug, and its app is rated 4.3 from 114 reviews.

Gooten lists volume pricing from $3.41 for an 11 oz white mug and $4.38 for 15 oz. Its mugs are dye-sublimation printed, full wrap, dishwasher and microwave safe, and made in the US and UK, with an average production time of 1.5 days. But it has the lowest Shopify App Store rating here, 3.3 from 147 reviews.

Which mug types to sell

Start with the 11 oz white mug and add a 15 oz or accent version as an upsell. Add specialty mugs once you know what your customers buy.

Care matters. Ceramic mugs from Printful, Printify and Gooten are listed as dishwasher and microwave safe. Enamel mugs, travel mugs and most color-changing mugs are not: Printful's enamel mug is hand-wash only, and Printify's providers recommend hand washing color-morphing mugs. Put care instructions on every product page.

2. Photo upload for photo mugs, with a resolution warning.
3. A live preview of the design wrapped on the mug.
4. Add-on fees for extras like a second photo or a gift box.
5. Order details saved on the order, so your provider prints exactly what the customer typed.

How to choose the best mug provider

• You want the lowest cost: Printify, with Printify Choice or District Photo as the provider. Add Premium once you sell about 20 mugs a month.
• You want the most consistent quality and branding: Printful.
