The best print-on-demand services for Shopify in 2026 are Printful for overall quality and branding, Printify for the lowest product costs and built-in personalization, and Gelato for local production in 32 countries. CustomCat, Teelaunch, Spreadconnect (the new name for SPOD) and Gooten are worth a look for specific needs, such as fast US printing or cheap mugs.
Every service on this list connects to Shopify, prints each item only after a customer orders it, and ships it to your customer without you holding stock. Where they differ is price, speed, quality control, branding and how well they handle personalized orders.
We checked every price, rating and policy below on each company's own site, help center, public catalog data or Shopify App Store listing in October 2026. Three services (Gelato, CustomCat and Spreadconnect) only show product prices inside their logged-in dashboards, so we say so instead of guessing. Prices change often and can vary by product color, location and plan.
Two things changed recently. Printful and Printify merged in November 2024 and now sit under one holding company called FYUL, while still running as separate brands. And SPOD has rebranded to Spreadconnect, run by Spreadshirt. Both are covered below.
Key takeaways
- Printful ranks first for its own fulfillment centers, white-label branding and a 4.8 rating from 3,925 Shopify reviews; a Gildan 5000 tee costs $7.50.
- Printify is the cheapest of the big two with Premium ($7.40 tee, $4.81 mug) and has built-in storefront personalization; quality depends on the provider you pick.
- Printful and Printify merged in November 2024 and were renamed FYUL in December 2025, but still run as separate brands with separate apps.
- SPOD is now Spreadconnect. Gelato, CustomCat and Spreadconnect show product prices only inside their dashboards, so order samples and compare before you commit.
How we ranked them
We ranked the seven services for a typical Shopify store selling printed and personalized products in the US and Europe, using five things we could check:
- Shopify App Store rating and number of reviews, as a signal of how merchants experience the service over time.
- Product cost, using a standard Gildan 5000 t-shirt and an 11 oz white mug wherever prices are public.
- Production and shipping speed, as each company states it.
- Branding: white-label shipping, custom packing slips, labels and inserts.
- Personalization: whether the service can handle orders where each customer adds their own name or photo.
No ranking fits every store. If you only sell in Europe, or only sell mugs, the order changes. The "how to choose" section at the end covers that.
Quick comparison
| Rank | Service | Gildan 5000 tee (front print) | 11 oz mug | US tee shipping, first item | Paid plan | Shopify app rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Printful | $7.50 | $6.75 | $4.95 | Growth, $24.99/mo | 4.8 (3,925 reviews) |
| 2 | Printify | $9.68 ($7.40 with Premium) | $6.44 ($4.81 with Premium) | $4.95 | Premium, $39/mo or $24.99/mo yearly | 4.7 (4,348 reviews) |
| 3 | Gelato | In dashboard only | In dashboard only | In dashboard only | Gelato+, $29.99/mo or $19.99/mo yearly | 4.8 (1,022 reviews) |
| 4 | CustomCat | In app only | In app only | In app only | PRO, $30/mo or $300/yr | 4.6 (113 reviews) |
| 5 | Teelaunch | $6.90 to $11.90 | $3.65 | $5.49 | None | 4.3 (114 reviews) |
| 6 | Spreadconnect (ex-SPOD) | In dashboard only | In dashboard only | Based on order value | None | 3.8 (140 reviews) |
| 7 | Gooten | From $6.99 | From $3.41 | From $4.95 | None | 3.3 (147 reviews) |
Prices are in USD, as checked in October 2026. Printful's tee price is for white, size M. Printify's prices are for its Printify Choice provider (tee) and SPOKE Custom Products (mug). Gooten's are "starts at" volume prices, and Teelaunch lists a price range for its Gildan tee.
1. Printful: best all-rounder

Printful prints most orders in its own facilities, which is the main reason merchants trust its quality. It runs seven in-house fulfillment centers in Latvia, Spain, the UK, the US (North Carolina and Texas), Mexico and Canada, plus partner facilities in Brazil, Japan and Australia, and offers more than 300 products.
- Price: free to use. A Gildan 5000 tee costs $7.50 (white, size M) and a Bella+Canvas 3001 costs $12.25. An 11 oz white mug costs $6.75. The Printful Growth plan ($24.99 a month, free once you pass $12,000 a year in sales) gives up to 33% off products.
- Speed: 2 to 5 business days to make and fulfill an order. US shipping for a tee is $4.95, plus $2.20 for each extra item.
- Branding: fully white-label, with your logo on the shipping label, custom packing slips and your own mailers. Orders routed to partner facilities don't support custom slips or mailers.
- Personalization: limited. Printful's help center says personalized Shopify orders import as drafts and you add the customer's text by hand before approving, and that Printful doesn't provide a way for customers to enter personalization details on your storefront. You'll need a personalizer app for that part.
Best for: stores that care most about consistent quality and a branded unboxing.

2. Printify: lowest costs and built-in personalization

Printify is a marketplace. Instead of printing everything itself, it connects you to a network of print providers, so you can choose on price, location and speed. Printify says it works with 141 facilities, and its Gildan 5000 alone has 21 print providers across the US, UK, EU, Canada and Australia.
- Price: free plan for up to 5 stores. Through the Printify Choice provider, a Gildan 5000 tee costs $9.68 and a Bella+Canvas 3001 $11.29. Printify Premium ($39 a month, or $24.99 a month billed yearly) cuts those to $7.40 and $9.04. An 11 oz mug costs $6.44, or $4.81 on Premium.
- Speed: Printify Choice averages 1.3 business days in production. Standard US shipping for a tee is $4.95 (2 to 5 business days), with an economy option from $3.99.
- Branding: neck labels from $0.55 and inserts from $0.15, but what you can add depends on the print provider. The mug provider we checked offers no branding at all.
- Personalization: built in. Printify's Personalization Hub adds a "Personalize" button to Shopify product pages so buyers can fill in text or image layers. It only works on newly created listings.
Best for: price-sensitive stores and anyone who wants storefront personalization without a separate app.

3. Gelato: best for selling across many countries

Gelato routes each order to a production partner close to the customer. It says it prints through 140+ local production hubs in 32 countries, which cuts shipping distance and time for international sales.
- Price: free plan for up to 2 stores. Product prices are shown only in the Gelato dashboard, so we couldn't verify a tee or mug price. Gelato+ ($29.99 a month, or $19.99 a month billed yearly) gives up to 33% off products and unlimited stores, and has a 14-day free trial.
- Speed: Gelato says production is normally 1 to 6 business days.
- Branding: white-label products, though its plans page lists branded labels and packaging inserts for posters.
- Personalization: Gelato's Personalization Studio adds an in-store editor on Shopify, but it requires an active Gelato+ subscription.
Best for: stores with customers in several countries who want local printing.

4. CustomCat: fast US printing with a discount plan

CustomCat, based in Detroit, prints and ships from the US and promises 48-hour US printing.
- Price: CustomCat Lite is free. Product and shipping prices are shown inside its app, so we couldn't verify them. CustomCat PRO ($30 a month or $300 a year, with a 60-day free trial) gives 20% to 40% off its standard wholesale prices.
- Speed: 48-hour US printing, according to its App Store listing.
- Branding: orders ship in plain, white-label packaging, but CustomCat says it does not offer custom neck tags, labels, packaging or inserts.
- Personalization: storefront personalization usually runs through a third-party app such as Customily.
Best for: US-focused stores that sell enough to make the PRO discount pay off.

5. Teelaunch: simple, with published prices

Teelaunch, based in South Dakota, is one of the few services that publishes its prices without a login, and they're low.
- Price: free, with no paid plan. Its Gildan unisex tee is listed at $6.90 to $11.90, and an 11 oz white mug $3.65.
- Speed: slower than most, at 3 to 7 business days for the tee and 3 to 6 for the mug. US shipping is $5.49 for the first item.
- Branding: white-label shipping, according to its App Store listing.
- Personalization: through Customily, a separate personalizer app that Teelaunch works with.
Best for: new stores on a tight budget that can live with longer production times.

6. Spreadconnect (formerly SPOD): fast in-house production

SPOD, Spreadshirt's print-on-demand service, has rebranded to Spreadconnect. Spod.com now redirects to Spreadconnect, and the Shopify app has moved to a new listing. Spreadshirt prints in its own facilities, with sourcing locations in Czechia, Germany, Poland and the US.
- Price: free, with no subscription. The first print area is included and each extra print area costs $5. Product prices load only in its dashboard, so we couldn't verify them. Shipping is based on your order value.
- Speed: Spreadconnect says 95% of orders ship within 48 hours.
- Branding: white-label packaging with no Spreadconnect marks, but no merchant branding yet. Its FAQ says that is "in consideration for the future."
- Watch out: some App Store reviews describe problems with the move from SPOD to Spreadconnect, so read recent reviews before you switch.
Best for: apparel stores that want fast, in-house production and don't need branded packaging.

7. Gooten: cheapest mugs, mixed reviews

Gooten runs a managed network of third-party print partners and has one of the widest catalogs, with 525+ products listed on its site.
- Price: free to install, with no paid plan. Volume pricing starts at $6.99 for a Gildan 5000 tee, $8.65 for a Bella+Canvas 3001 and $3.41 for an 11 oz white mug. US shipping starts at $4.95 for a tee.
- Speed: an average of 1.5 days in production, then about 3 days of US shipping.
- Branding: customized packing slips, though only at partners that support them.
- Personalization: you can hold items for personalization and swap in artwork before production, or use its Customily integration for storefront personalization.
- Watch out: it has the lowest Shopify App Store rating here (3.3 from 147 reviews), with reviews mentioning wrong or misprinted items and slow support.
Best for: stores that want low base prices on a wide range of products and are ready to order samples and check quality closely.

Printful and Printify are now both FYUL
Printful and Printify announced their merger on 5 November 2024, and Printful confirmed on 20 November 2024 that the deal was complete. The merged company was renamed FYUL in December 2025. FYUL's own site describes it as uniting Printify, Printful and Snow Commerce.
The two brands still run separately. They have separate Shopify apps, separate pricing and separate catalogs, and FYUL has said its brands will keep providing their existing services. Printify even lists Printful as one of its print providers. So for now, choosing between them is still a real choice: Printful for its own facilities and branding, Printify for marketplace pricing and built-in personalization.
How to choose the right service for your store
- You want the most reliable quality and a branded package: start with Printful.
- You want the lowest cost per item: compare Printify (with Premium), Teelaunch and Gooten, and order samples, because quality varies by provider.
- You sell personalized products: Printify has storefront personalization built in, and Gelato's requires Gelato+. With the others, you'll add a personalizer app.
- You sell to customers in many countries: Gelato's local production network is built for that.
- You sell mostly in the US and need speed: CustomCat and Spreadconnect both promise around 48 hours.
- You want branded inserts and labels: Printful offers the most; CustomCat and Spreadconnect don't offer merchant branding.
Many stores use two services, for example Printful for apparel and a cheaper provider for mugs. You can connect more than one service to the same store; just make sure each product is fulfilled by only one of them.
Before you commit, order a sample of your best-selling product from your top two choices, wash or use it, and compare. Our guide to Printful vs Printify goes deeper on the top two.
Adding personalization to print-on-demand products
If your customers add their own names, dates or photos, the print service is only half the setup. You also need a way to collect that information on your product page.
A personalizer app adds text fields, photo upload and a live preview to your Shopify product page, and saves what the customer entered on the order as line item properties. How the print service picks that up varies. Printify and Gelato have their own built-in tools, Printful imports personalized orders as drafts for you to finish, and several others work with apps like Customily.
PIMW Product Personalizer is our app. Text fields, the live preview and add-on fees work on every plan, including Free, and photo upload is on the Pro and Unlimited plans. Whatever you use, place a test order with your print service and check that the customer's details reach production exactly as typed.
