If you run a Shopify store in India and want print on demand, you need an Indian fulfillment partner. Qikink and Printrove both have Shopify apps that pull your orders in, print them in India, and ship them under your brand with cash on delivery. Blinkstore and a handful of smaller printers do the same job with a different setup.
Global apps like Printful and Printify still work, but they print abroad. For an Indian customer that usually means slower delivery and no COD, which is a big deal in a market where many first-time buyers still want to pay at the door.
So the short version: sell to Indian shoppers with an Indian POD partner, and add a global partner only if you also want to sell abroad.
This guide covers which providers connect to Shopify, what they charge in rupees at the time of writing (October 2026), how COD and GST work on Shopify in India, and how to set it all up in an afternoon. Prices in this space move every few months, so treat every number here as a starting point and check the provider's current price list before you set retail prices.
If you want the bigger picture on demand, niches and festival seasons, our India market overview covers that. This page sticks to the practical side: partner, money, setup.
Key takeaways
- For Indian customers, use an Indian POD partner such as Qikink or Printrove; global apps print abroad and offer no Indian COD.
- Shopify Payments isn't available in India, so plan for a gateway fee plus Shopify's 2% third-party fee on Basic, while COD carries no Shopify transaction fee.
- Most POD tees fall in the 5% GST slab and phone cases in 18%, and Shopify won't issue GST invoices without an app.
- Price for COD refusals and ad costs: a 50% gross margin on paper can drop below 25% once both are counted.
Which POD providers work with Shopify in India
Here's what we found on each provider's own site and Shopify App Store listing in October 2026.
| Provider | Shopify connection | COD | Dispatch and delivery (provider's claim) | Sign-up cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Qikink | Shopify app, free to install | Yes, zero RTO charges | Dispatch in 2-3 business days, delivery 2-5 business days | No fee, pay per order |
| Printrove | Shopify app, free to install | Yes, on the Business Plan | Varies by air or surface and courier | ₹5,000 one-time, returned as order credit |
| Blinkstore | Free Shopify plugin (per Blinkstore) | Check with provider | Dispatch within 48 hours, delivery 6-8 days | Free |
| Print On Demand India | Shopify app, free | Not stated | Not stated | Free |
| Printful, Printify, Gelato | Shopify apps | No India COD | Printed outside India for most products | Free to start |
Qikink
Qikink is the name most Indian sellers hear first. Its app is free on the Shopify App Store, and you pay only when an order comes in: product, printing, shipping, COD fee and GST, taken from a prepaid wallet.
Its catalog claims 350+ products across apparel, bags, drinkware and home decor, delivered to 29,000+ pincodes. The selling point is COD with zero RTO (return to origin) charges, which matters because unpaid COD returns are where Indian POD margins usually disappear.
One caution: at the time of writing the Qikink Shopify app had a 2.2 out of 5 rating from 9 reviews, with complaints about dispatch delays, quality control and price increases. That's a small sample, but it's a good reason to order samples and run a few test orders before you push ad spend.
Printrove
Printrove is Chennai-based and has had a Shopify app since 2018. At the time of writing it had a 4.9 rating from 7 reviews. It offers 250+ products, including apparel, phone cases, mugs, notebooks and posters.
The catch is the plan structure. Printrove's Free Plan doesn't automate store orders. The Business Plan costs a one-time ₹5,000, which comes back to you as order credit, and adds COD orders, automatic fulfillment of Shopify orders, custom branding and self-shipping. If you're serious about Shopify, budget for the Business Plan from day one.
Blinkstore
Blinkstore started as a free storefront for creators and also offers a free Shopify plugin. It lists 50+ products, 48-hour dispatch and delivery within 6-8 days across India. We couldn't find a current Shopify App Store listing for it, so confirm the connection method with Blinkstore before you build your store around it.
Global providers
Printful and Printify connect to Shopify in a few clicks, but for most products they print in the US, Europe and other regions, not India. Printify's own shipping page lists one India-based provider (YourDesign Store), so check what that provider actually stocks if you want to use Printify from India. Gelato routes orders to local partners in its network, so look at its India catalog before you rule it out.
The real gap is COD. None of the global apps offer Indian cash on delivery, and imported parcels can take weeks and may carry customs charges for the buyer. For shoppers in India, an Indian partner is the safer default.
What it costs in INR
Here are sample base prices from Qikink's public price list, dated 26 September 2026. These are product prices before shipping and COD, and GST is added on top.
| Item | Qikink base price | GST rate |
|---|---|---|
| Basic T-shirt (UB73) | ₹100 | 5% |
| Unisex Standard Crew (US21) | ₹170 | 5% |
| Unisex Classic Crew (UC21) | ₹190 | 5% |
| White 11 oz mug | ₹115 | 5% |
| Glass phone case | ₹150 | 18% |
| Air shipping | ₹54 per 500 g | 18% |
| Surface shipping | ₹42.37 per 500 g | 18% |
| COD charge | ₹34 per order | 18% |
Printing for apparel is priced on top of the blank depending on print size and method, and each product page shows the full cost before you list it. Printrove publishes its prices inside its merchant panel and product pages, so compare the same item at the same print size before you choose.
Then add Shopify itself. On the Shopify India pricing page at the time of writing, the Basic plan was ₹1,994 a month on monthly billing or ₹1,499 a month billed yearly, with a ₹20-a-month offer for the first 3 months. Shopify notes that GST-registered Indian businesses pay GST on the subscription too.
The payment gateway fee
Shopify Payments isn't available in India; it doesn't appear on Shopify's list of supported countries. So you'll use a third-party gateway such as Razorpay, PayU or Cashfree for prepaid orders.
That has two costs. The gateway charges its own fee, and Shopify adds a third-party transaction fee on top: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced at the time of writing. Cash on delivery is a manual payment method, and Shopify says it doesn't charge the third-party transaction fee on manual payments.
Cash on delivery on a Shopify POD store
COD is where Indian POD stores win or lose money. Many buyers will only order with COD, but some refuse the parcel at the door, and every refusal costs you the product, the forward shipping and, with some partners, a return fee.
Here's how the pieces fit:
- On Shopify: add Cash on Delivery under Settings, then Payments, as a manual payment method. COD orders arrive marked as unpaid. Once the cash is collected, you mark them paid.
- At your POD partner: the partner ships the COD parcel, the courier collects cash, and the partner sends it to your wallet or bank. Couriers take time to remit cash, so ask your partner how often COD money is paid out and plan your cash flow around it.
- On returns: Qikink advertises zero RTO charges. With other partners, ask exactly what a refused COD parcel costs you before you go live.
A few habits cut COD losses. Confirm high-value COD orders by WhatsApp or phone before they go to print. Offer a small prepaid discount so more buyers pay upfront. Set a COD fee or a minimum order value if refusals climb. A personalized product can't be resold, so many stores make custom items prepaid only.
GST for Indian POD sellers
Shopify's India GST help page says registration is mandatory once turnover crosses ₹20 lakh (₹10 lakh in some North Eastern and hill states), and also when you make inter-state supplies or sell through online marketplaces. Since an online POD store ships across states from day one, talk to a tax consultant early instead of assuming you're exempt.
Rates changed on 22 September 2025, when the GST Council moved most goods to two main slabs of 5% and 18%. Garments priced up to ₹2,500 a piece now carry 5%, which covers almost every POD tee and hoodie. Accessories like phone cases and most home items sit at 18% on Qikink's price list.
On the Shopify side:
- Go to Settings, then Taxes and duties, and turn on tax collection for India with your GSTIN.
- Replace Shopify's default rates with the right ones for your products. Shopify's defaults are a starting point only.
- Create collections by tax rate (for example "GST 5% apparel" and "GST 18% accessories") and set tax overrides on them.
- Install a GST invoice app. Shopify says plainly that it doesn't create GST-compliant invoices on its own.
Your POD partner charges you GST on what you buy from them, and Qikink, for example, generates GST invoices per order. Keep those invoices; they're what you claim input tax credit against.
Selling to India vs selling from India
These are two different businesses, and mixing them up is the most common setup mistake we see.
Selling to India means Indian customers, INR prices, COD and an Indian POD partner. Your store currency is INR, your partner prints in India, and delivery takes days, not weeks.
Selling from India means you live in India but your customers are in the US, UK or elsewhere. Here Printful, Printify or Gelato often make more sense, because they print close to the buyer. You still need an Indian payment gateway that supports international cards, and you'll want Shopify Markets to show prices in the buyer's currency. Printrove says its glass phone cases can ship to 200+ countries through shipping partners, but a parcel from Chennai to Chicago won't compete on speed with a US print facility.
Many stores run both: an Indian partner routed for Indian orders and a global partner for everyone else. Shopify lets you set shipping and fulfillment rules by market, and our Printful vs Printify vs Gelato comparison covers the global side in detail.
Step-by-step: set up a Shopify POD store in India
Here's the order we'd do it in, based on what trips up new Indian merchants in our support inbox.
- Pick your plan and currency. Start Shopify on the India site, set your store currency to INR and your address to your registered business address.
- Connect a payment gateway. Install Razorpay, PayU or Cashfree for UPI, cards and net banking. Gateways review your business details and website before they approve you, so publish your refund, shipping and contact pages first.
- Turn on COD. Add it as a manual payment method and decide your COD rules (fee, minimum order, prepaid-only items).
- Install your POD app. Connect Qikink, Printrove or your chosen partner, top up the wallet, and push 5-10 products to start, not 200.
- Order samples. Print every design you'll advertise and check color, print size and fabric in person.
- Set up GST. Add your GSTIN, set overrides by collection, and install an invoice app.
- Set shipping rates. Match your partner's cost per 500 g, or fold shipping into the price and offer free delivery above a threshold.
- Add personalization if it fits. Names on tees, photos on mugs and initials on phone cases are where Indian POD stores can charge more than mass-market prices.
- Run test orders. Place one prepaid and one COD order to yourself, and check the order reaches the partner with the right print file.
A worked margin example
Say you sell a printed unisex tee. Assume your landed cost from the partner (blank, print, air shipping, COD fee and GST) comes to ₹400. Your exact figure is on the product page.
- Retail price: ₹799, COD
- Partner landed cost: ₹400
- Gross profit before ads and refusals: ₹399, about 50%
Now add reality. If 1 in 10 COD orders gets refused and each refusal costs you ₹150 in lost shipping and fees, that's ₹15 per order on average. Paid ads in a crowded niche can easily cost ₹150-₹250 per sale. Your ₹399 can shrink to well under ₹200 fast, which is why pricing at ₹499 to "compete" rarely works for POD. Our POD profit margins guide goes deeper on this.
Where personalization fits
Generic graphic tees in India compete with very cheap marketplace listings. Personalized products don't, because the buyer can't find their own name, photo or team number somewhere else for less.
That's where a personalizer helps. PIMW Product Personalizer adds a live preview to your Shopify product page, so the customer types a name or uploads a photo and sees it on the product before checkout. It shows any add-on fee as a separate cart line, and the personalization is saved on the order as line-item properties, so your Indian POD partner or your own print shop can read exactly what to print. It works on every Shopify plan and starts free for your first product, with paid plans from $7.99 a month and no per-sale fee.
One practical note for Indian partners: PIMW connects directly with Printful, Printify and Gelato. With Qikink or Printrove, you'd pass the personalization details and print file through their order flow or a manual step, so test that path with a sample order before launch.
What we'd do in your position
Start with one Indian POD partner, not three. Qikink is the easiest to try because there's no sign-up fee. Printrove is worth the ₹5,000 Business Plan if its catalog fits your niche.
Keep your first range small, order samples, and get COD rules and GST right before you spend on ads. Add a global partner later if overseas buyers start finding you.
Frequently asked questions
Which print on demand company is best for Shopify in India?
For Indian customers, Qikink and Printrove are the most established options with Shopify apps, Indian printing and COD. Qikink has no sign-up fee and advertises zero RTO charges, while Printrove needs a one-time ₹5,000 Business Plan (returned as order credit) for COD and automatic order sync. Order samples from both before you decide.
Can I use Printful or Printify for an Indian Shopify store?
Yes, but most of their products print outside India, so delivery to Indian buyers is slow and there is no Indian cash on delivery. They make more sense when you live in India and sell to customers in the US, UK or Europe.
Does Shopify Payments work in India?
No. India isn't on Shopify's list of supported countries for Shopify Payments, so you need a third-party gateway such as Razorpay or PayU. Shopify then adds a third-party transaction fee of 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced, but not on manual payments like COD.
How do I offer cash on delivery on a Shopify POD store?
In Shopify, go to Settings, then Payments, and add Cash on Delivery as a manual payment method. Your POD partner ships the parcel as COD, the courier collects the cash and the partner pays it to your wallet or bank. Check what each partner charges when a COD parcel is refused.
Do I need GST registration to sell print on demand in India?
Shopify's India GST guidance says registration is mandatory above ₹20 lakh turnover and also for inter-state supplies, which most online stores make. Talk to a tax consultant before launch, and install a GST invoice app because Shopify doesn't create GST-compliant invoices itself.
How much does it cost to start a Shopify POD store in India?
At the time of writing, Shopify Basic is ₹1,994 a month on monthly billing (₹1,499 billed yearly) with a ₹20-a-month offer for 3 months. Qikink has no sign-up fee and you pay per order, while Printrove's Business Plan is a one-time ₹5,000 returned as credit. Add a few thousand rupees for samples.
What profit margin can I expect on POD in India?
A printed tee that costs about ₹400 landed and sells for ₹799 gives roughly 50% gross margin. COD refusals and paid ads usually cut that sharply, so many sellers aim for ₹200 or more profit per order after ads rather than racing to the lowest price.
How long does POD delivery take in India?
Indian partners quote roughly 2-3 business days to dispatch and a few days more to deliver: Qikink says 2-5 business days of delivery after dispatch, and Blinkstore says 48-hour dispatch with delivery in 6-8 days. Orders printed abroad by global apps usually take weeks.
