iPhone HEIC photo upload issues

How Print It My Way handles HEIC

Print It My Way auto-converts HEIC (Apple's High Efficiency Image Format) to JPG with EXIF orientation preserved. This handles the vast majority of iPhone uploads correctly.

Common issues + fixes

  1. Photo appears sideways. Print It My Way reads EXIF orientation and rotates accordingly. If it still shows sideways, the source HEIC may have corrupted EXIF metadata. Ask customer to re-save the photo (e.g., forward to themselves via iMessage first, then upload the re-saved copy).
  2. File rejected as unsupported. Verify your personalizer's Photo upload field has HEIC in the accepted formats list.
  3. Colors look washed out. HEIC uses P3 color space (wide-gamut); conversion to sRGB may lose saturation. For color-critical products, ask customers to upload JPG in sRGB format.

Force JPG-only

If you consistently have issues, restrict accepted formats to JPG + PNG only. In the Photo upload field settings, remove HEIC from accepted formats. Customer's iPhone will prompt them to convert.
